Spring Clean Up & Mulching

Beginning in late February we visit the site and provide a general clean up of all turf and mulch areas. Policing for fallen branches, leaves, and old perennial foliage. An edge will be established on all mulch beds and hardwood mulch will be installed to maintain a proper mulch depth of 2 ½ to 3".

Full Maintenance Services

Mowing

As the grass begins to break dormancy in late March, the mowing crews will be dispatched to begin weekly mowing of your lawn areas. During each visit the crews will patrol all turf areas for general cleanliness prior to mowing. Lawns will be managed in a consistent manner, providing a turf pattern where applicable. For those yards with hard edges along the turf, lawns will be mechanically edged at least every other week.

Turf Fertilization

We recommend our full scope turf fertilization program of five applications. Beginning in early spring, the first round of fertilizer is applied in conjunction with a pre-emergent weed control. This application is repeated in late spring. During the summer months the lawn is evaluated for adventitious weeds encroaching upon heat stressed lawns. To minimize stress on the lawn, weed control is applied where needed. The cornerstone of our program is the fall applications. Starting in late summer early fall, the major root development season for turf grass, the first of two fall applications are provided. The second will be done in early fall prior to major dormancy or leaf drop. Total application of Nitrogen will be approximately 3.5 to 4 lbs per 1000 square feet of turf, per year.

Full Service Visits

Throughout the growing season, properties will be visited about every two weeks. During these visits, mulch beds will be policed for weeds and debris. Plant material will be monitored for its general health and growth rate. All trees and shrubs will be maintained according to the individual needs of the plant. Informal shrubs will be hand pruned throughout and formal hedges will be sheared throughout the growing season as needed. Where space allows, hedges will be maintained to gradually increase the taper in the canopy. Flowering trees and shrubs will not be pruned until after the bloom period, unless requested by the client. Ground covers will be edged and pruned during growing season as needed.

All cracks and crevices in existing asphalt, concrete, and other hard surfaces will be monitored for weeds, which will be treated with a non-selective herbicide. All mulch beds will be weeded on a continuous basis throughout the season. This will be accomplished through the use of hand weeding and/or the application of pre and post emergent herbicides.

Perennials

All herbaceous plant material will be monitored throughout the season. As needed crews will prune back old perennial flower heads, stalks, dormant grass, and spent foliage.

Pest Management

Your landscape will be inspected through out the growing season. Inspections will occur approximately once a month for the period of May through September. Applications for control will be scheduled based on anything noted during the inspection. Should you note anything of concern not brought to your attention by us, please call immediately.

Leaf Removal

All fallen leaves shall be removed from turf, driveway, and walkway areas prior to mowing during October and November. The first full leaf removal will occur prior to the Thanksgiving holiday week, the second in mid-December. During full leaf removal, leaf debris will be blown from all maintained areas. Leaf debris will be deposited in even layers into existing naturally wooded areas.

Winter Clean Up

Inspect landscape three to four times during the winter months and clean any fallen branches, winter weeds, and minor leaf accumulation to keep landscape in proper order. A pre-emergent herbicide may be applied to all mulch areas for winter weed population control.
